A Day’s Food Intake

I’ve just passed days 10 and 11 and am currently in day 12. I’m back on track. I actually feel like I could continue this indefinitely. I’ve spent the time to figure out what I CAN eat, rather than focusing on what I can’t.  Some of you have asked for a list of what I’m eating on a daily basis. Here is yesterday’s food intake:

6:30 am  Breakfast shake – unsweetened coconut milk, water, 1 scoop Vega protein powder, 2 Tblsp plain brown rice protein, 1 cup of mixed berries, 1-2 cups raw spinach.

10:30  1 rice tortilla wrap with hummus (nothing measured), mixed green salad with carrots, peppers, cauliflower, 1/4 avocado, with home made dressing: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard.

2:30   1 nutty ball made with nuts (no peanuts), protein powder, and almond butter.

3:30   1 plum, 1 nutty ball, 1/2 sweet potato with 2-3 crumbled walnuts

6:30   Lamb steak, stir fried veggies, 1 glass red wine

Feel free to give me feedback or ask questions. More than likely, others will benefit from the answers to your questions. My intention is to have this process help others who are curious about how they can make something work for them.

I still stand by my contention that the best diet is the one that works for you, helps you feel good, and allows your weight to normalize and stay there, wherever that might be.

    Sounds like you are getting the hang of the new way of eating. It might get a little tricky when you have a social gathering to go to. That’s where I have to really be careful. But if this works for you and you feel better than it’s worth it!

      Yeah, I had one on Sunday. I ate a burger, no bun etc. and there was some broccoli slaw – probably had mayo, but not too heavy. That worked out pretty well. I sometimes take my own food…….not always the most polite thing to do, so it depends on who it is.

    Hello Kay! I think my total protein is around 20 grams. The Vega scoop is 15 and the 2 Tblsp of rice protein are 7 grams. Since the protein is vegetable based, I’m not concerned. At some point, I hope to remove animal protein in my diet. Right now I have it once a day, and strive for vegetable based proteins the rest of the day.

    Thanks for checking in. I actually put coconut oil in my shake also. Forgot to write it. I think avocado is an awesome option, and probably makes the shake nice and thick! Keep me posted on anything interesting you are doing food wise!

    Hi Marcy,
    I noticed you have essentially 3 servings of Protein Powder in your breakfast shake…. Curious as to how much Protein this equals. I had been putting a fair amt of protein in my breakfast shake and read somewhere that we might be putting too much protein in our diets and there might be harmful effects from this….

    Breakfast Shake: I have almost the exact same ingredients as you (except for the amt of protein – I add 12gm Rice protein), kale (sometimes both kale and spinach), fruit, coconut milk, and I have added organic Coconut Oil or avocado half to my shake to include a fat.
